Pear Butter
If you have a bumper crop of pears like I did, why not make some delicious pear butter? This recipe is made in a crockpot, so it comes together effortlessly.
You’ll need:
A crockpot
5 lbs of pears
1/4 cup of coconut sugar
1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
1/4 tsp. of powdered ginger
Pear Butter
Pear butter made in a crockpot. Perfect for spreading on bread and biscuits. Add it to oatmeal. Also good all by itself
Equipment
- 1 Crockpot
- 1 potato masher
- 1 immersion blender
Ingredients
- 5 lbs pears
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp powdered ginger
Instructions
- Slice the pears into quarters and discard the stem and seeds.
- Place the pears into a crockpot.
- Lightly smash the pears with a potato masher.
- Add the sugar, cinnamon, and ginger and stir around.
- Place the lid on the crockpot and turn on low.
- Cook the pears down on low for about 6-8 hours. Stir several times while it cooks. You want most of the liquid to evaporate, but don't let the mixture burn.
- Use a stick immersion blender and blend the pear butter to the desired consistency.
- Spoon the pear butter into a container and keep it refrigerated for a week or two. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
