Pear Butter

If you have a bumper crop of pears like I did, why not make some delicious pear butter? This recipe is made in a crockpot, so it comes together effortlessly.

You’ll need:

A crockpot

5 lbs of pears

1/4 cup of coconut sugar

1/2 tsp. of cinnamon

1/4 tsp. of powdered ginger

Pear Butter

Pear butter made in a crockpot. Perfect for spreading on bread and biscuits. Add it to oatmeal. Also good all by itself
Prep Time 15 minutes

Equipment

  • 1 Crockpot
  • 1 potato masher
  • 1 immersion blender

Ingredients

  • 5 lbs pears
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp powdered ginger

Instructions

  • Slice the pears into quarters and discard the stem and seeds.
  • Place the pears into a crockpot.
  • Lightly smash the pears with a potato masher.
  • Add the sugar, cinnamon, and ginger and stir around.
  • Place the lid on the crockpot and turn on low.
  • Cook the pears down on low for about 6-8 hours. Stir several times while it cooks. You want most of the liquid to evaporate, but don't let the mixture burn.
  • Use a stick immersion blender and blend the pear butter to the desired consistency.
  • Spoon the pear butter into a container and keep it refrigerated for a week or two. It can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
